型材是在布管中沿着管道路径去连接部件而加入到的固体材料。 NX型材模型通过沿着各个路由段扫描轮廓曲线。型材可以携带自己的属性，如NPS，外形和材料规格，可与不同的详细程度来显示。
两种创建型材的模式：
Legacy stock (LS)
Stock as Components (SAC)
Legacy stock resides as swept features in the routing assembly. Legacy stock is given a generic feature name, and can be considered intermediate or temporary parts. Once the routing assembly is finalized and approved, you can then convert the temporary stock into ‘stock as components’ (or released) parts. Component stock is treated like any other assembly component where the stock geometry resides in its own part file, and the part appears as a component member of the routing assembly. The administration of legacy stock versus stock as components depends on your company standards.
Descriptor characteristics are automatically assigned via the stock part selection process and are the same for all uses of that type of stock. NX uses stock’s descriptor characteristics for design rules checking.
