The problem was found to be in /ugs/installed_programs.dat which has the
following entry for NX9:

9 q6 I: z6 i+ S7 M2 V( N2 K[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Unigraphics Solutions\Installed Applications]
"Unigraphics V27"="/appls/ugs090/ugii/ugii"

It should have been " Unigraphics V27.0"

Solution
" Z& T8 l4 }& NEdit /ugs/installed_programs.dat, add .0 to "Unigraphics V27"
