Active Workspace overview

Active Workspace is a Teamcenter web client that provides Teamcenter functionality in a wide range of browsers, including browsers on mobile devices. The Teamcenter Active Workspace web client is incorporated into NX in addition to the NX Teamcenter Navigator and provides a seamless user experience between Teamcenter and NX.

The Active Workspace functionality lets you view and sift throUGh items, item revisions, datasets, and so on. You can display a summary or detail view of the data as well as a graphical view of selected items similar to what you can do in the My Teamcenter application. Active Workspace provides additional functionality so that you can create workflows, show related drawings, perform fast and comprehensive searches, and utilize change management.

While the overall purpose of viewing and managing your NX data is the same for Teamcenter Navigator and Active Workspace, the user interface for Active Workspace is designed to be highly configurable and customizable.

Features and characteristics

In addition to the basic data management tasks, you can also perform the following:

• Perform fast searches.
• Create a workflow to place an object through a series of required tasks, such as signoffs and reviews.
• Display, mark up, and print documents created by other applications, such as Microsoft Office.
• Create problem reports.
• Create changes, including change requests, change notices, and deviation requests.
• Create requirements documents.
• View the relations between objects in a graphical format.
